Shawn Corey

T-Mobile
Principle Security Engineer
Greater Seattle Area
Shawn is an engineer and tinkerer with almost 20 years of experience in the software, security and hardware arenas. Starting as a Linux systems admin in the late 90s and moving on to work at Microsoft (but don't hold it against him :) from 2000 until 2014 before moving to T-Mobile. During his career, he has worked extensively on PKI, crypto software and hardware, authentication, hardware and firmware security. At Microsoft he was involved in securing and locking down the Windows on ARM platform, including SecureBoot and Measured Boot(again don't hold it against him), and has continued interest and involvement in bringing secure mobile products to market. During his time at T-Mobile he has worked on handset and IoT device security, including performing security reviews and pentesting of mobile and IoT products. During the review and testing of the devices he has run across a variety of issues in the implementation of hardware, firmware, mobile/web apps and cloud backend. His experience has basically shown that the current IoT is the internet from 1998, maybe worse...
